Talking therapies can help all sorts of people in lots of different situations. You may also hear them referred to as counselling, talking treatments or psychological therapies. Talking therapy is for anyone who’s going through a bad time or has emotional problems they need help with.

Here is some recent feedback from from clients who have completed therapy. (Client and therapist names removed for confidentiality reasons).

”A big ‘thank you’ to my therapist for his time, positive attitude, and professionalism. He facilitated a great set of sessions and provided some really good tips and behavioural techniques to help me figure out my thoughts and emotions. I feel I am now in a better position to reflect and most importantly ‘act’ when I am feeling down and in reflection, believe my mood has improved dramatically in the past 6-8 weeks.”

”I found the service really helpful with the advice and treatment provided for me it was also really helpful to be able to speak to someone that’s was not family or friends about how I was feeling and someone that is aware of my problem and symptoms and give informed advise.”

”Right from the beginning I found the service to be excellent. From the self-referral process, to the initial assessment and then finally be assigned my therapist.

I couldn’t have hoped for a better therapist – I was a little unsure how it would work over the phone, but I felt  at ease immediately. I think the rapport that we established really helped me get the most out of this experience.”

”Dramatically effective results in a short time delivered by an excellent therapist.”

“I found it very helpful specially the difficult time of COVID-19.”

“I appreciate that I received this service under this corona virus circumstance which made me more anxious than usual. My therapist was kind and flexible for the situation.”

“I suffer from osteoarthritis, restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, IBS, depression and anxiety, plus many others. I couldn’t not sleep I was constantly fatigued; I don’t mean tired I mean so shattered that having a shower wiped me out and I would have to go to bed. I was unable to do anything for myself or in the house. Every part of my body was in pain and I was severely depressed. I started CBT therapy.

Because my body was in so much pain and I was always fatigued I was very sceptical as I thought there is no way that your thoughts can help with this. Was I wrong!!! I cannot believe the change in me. I couldn’t walk 5 minutes without stopping or do anything for myself, and I always beat myself up for it. By learning different techniques, I am a more like my old self. It’s not a miracle cure and I’m still in pain but not as bad as I was and I am now a lot happier then I was and kinder to myself. By learning these techniques, I am now able to walk around my garden every morning. I have better sleep quality at night.

Please if you’re thinking it’s not for me like I did, give it a go, it is life changing! I know I’m never going to run a marathon but I am able to be more and deal with my pain and depression better. There are bad days but not ALL bad days and that is the difference. My therapist was fantastic and because of her and the techniques she implemented I’m starting to feel human and like myself. Please don’t think that what goes on in your head doesn’t affect your pain because it does. I am still amazed that changing my thoughts as had such a big impact on my life and I have become more active too. Thank you!”

“I’d never considered group therapy before, I thought 1 to 1 would be much better but actually I’ve felt really supported and comforted being in a group with others who understand! The therapist was a great facilitator :)”

“Happy with frame sessions, was good to have some structure in the beginning sessions and that it was made clear that was flexibility to go any direction that was needed. Glad things were remembered from previous sessions felt listened to.”

“Excellent service. It has out into perspective so many points that needed addressing. I am confident to move forward and feel well equipped to self-reflect and continue growing.”
